Webinar: 23 November 7:30pm AEDT/ Syd time
Is your tween nagging you for their own phone?
Do you feel pressure to ‘keep up with the iPhoneses’?
Worried your kid will miss out on being part of their friendship group?
Is your gut telling you to ‘delay delay delay’?
Smartphone ownership comes not just with a significant cost, but also responsibility – for both the young person but also the parents and caregivers.
Just like when you introduced your baby to solids, you slowly started to experiment with different foods – with phones we need to be careful to introduce levels of immersion in its features, from wifi to games and social media apps.
We’ll unpack the big issues and questions to ask to determine what is right for you and your child, based on best practice and latest research.
+ The session will explore:
- The stages of responsibilities that smartphone ownership comes with (depending on what internet access and apps you allow).
- How to introduce levels of smartphone responsibility and check in on your child’s ability to manage these (using brain and emotional development).
- Preparing parents for what their child’s smartphone ownerships means and how to talk to other parents and families about phone and technology use arrangements.
- An introduction to the Digital Nutrition™ positive tech use framework and how to use it to create a technology-use agreement and healthful digital habits
There will be plenty of time for questions with Jocelyn at the end. As a bonus Jocelyn will also collate any additional questions you have in the week after the live event and record a video to answer them in depth.
Everyone who registers will get access to the recording for 6 months.
